How Guidelines are Scored
Guidelines were adapted from Institute of Medicine and the Appraisal of Guidelines Research and Evaluation (AGREE). The most important guideline dimensions were given a weighted score (section 1), up to a score of 42. The non-weighted guidelines received a score equal to 1 point for a total up to 6 total points. A guideline that meets all dimensions may receive 48 total points. Guidelines that receive a score of 42 or higher is a “high quality guideline”.
